The Rundown: The mutants and Captain America fight a mutant running from his past.

After entering what they thought was the home of one of the men from the camp experimented on by the government, they discover a man there who not only doesn’t want to be disturbed, but uses his mutant abilities and enhanced strength to fight the team of mutants working with Steve Rogers.
Beast works behind the scenes to find a solution while Jitter manages to calm the man down long enough to hear his story. A story that will shock everyone there while feeling oddly familiar to Laura in some aspects. Steve and the others will have to find a way to help exorcise the ghosts from the man’s past and help him find a new purpose if they have any chance of escape.
The Story: Ewing crafts an engaging story in this issue. There were a couple of pacing issues and many unresolved character conflicts, but the story is solid and entertaining while also creating a great backstory for the antagonist of the arc. The story goes to some dark and compelling places and I ultimately enjoyed the journey and the characters. I also look forward to seeing what comes next.
The Art: Palma delivers some great art throughout the issue. I really liked the visual style and the details within the pages and panels. There is a definite nod to old school comic art in the backstory moments which I enjoyed.
