The Rundown: 3K’s X-Men attack the factory while Magneto is made an offer.

3K has sent a strike force to attack the X-Men in their base. They have also recruited Joseph to take on the role of team leader and “Magneto” for their team. Something that the team is not taking well as they continue to attack the X-Men. Scott and the others fight to stop the attack and even as 3K removes their team from the board, the X-Men are left wondering what their real target was until it is too late.

At the same time, Magneto is confronted by the White Beast known as the Chairman who is trying to recruit him to their cause. A confrontation that will challenge Max on who he is and what he wants when the prospect of being cured is dangled in front of him. An offer that will lead to a revelation from the mutant and the beginning of something dark for both humans and mutants.

The Story: MacKay ramps up the action and tension throughout this issue. I love the action of the base attack and how it contrasts with the verbal sparring and suspense of the Chairman/Magneto confrontation. The story does a great job of showing a temptation for Magneto that would be impossible to ignore while also serving as a way of showing the tension within the enemy ranks as they plot against their own Magneto and his impertinence. There are some great action beats throughout the story and I like where it leaves the X-Men at the end. I look forward to seeing what they do next.

The Art: Diaz creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. There are some great action scenes and awesome dramatic character moments.
