The Rundown: An X-Man makes the ultimate sacrifice, but that act will attract a bigger threat.

Rogue and the rest of her team gather to protect one of their own against a dangerous threat, Galactus. The devourer of worlds wants a new herald and has decided one of the mutants will serve him, but as the team works on a plan to slow Galactus down, Rogue decides to act. An act that will end the threat but also end her existence as well.
Years later, Gambit continues to mourn his loss and wish to join his wife in death. Unfortunately, Henrietta arrives to tell the heroes that something has happened with the dark entity that guards the violent dead in the area. Something that will unleash the dead onto the world as the demon entity looks for a means of escape.
The Story: I’m going to be completely honest and say that I am not really on board with another huge event for Marvel’s mutants and have been resisting this one openly, but Simone is one of my favorite writers and I have loved her run on this series so far. Taking this issue as a standalone story, I was thoroughly entertained by it both for its emotional heart and its ominous tone. I love that the story is from Gambit’s perspective and how he is dealing with loss and grief and I loved that it ties to the dark artery storyline and Henrietta.
The Art: Werneck delivers some beautifully detailed and visually impressive art throughout the issue. I love the visuals and the action is thrilling.
