The Rundown: Colton discovers the truth about their mission in Latveria as Rogers confronts Doom.

Doom prepares to execute the leaders of the rebel group in the country when he is interrupted by Steve Rogers who decides to bring down the despot himself. As the pair fight it out, Steve realizes that he is surrounded by Doom Bots and must make a plan if he has any way of getting out of this fight alive. As he presses his attack, he remembers something Reed gave him. Something that will expose the truth about Doom and possibly rally the public against him.
At the same time, Colton and his Howling Commandos are pinned down by enemy fire and manage to find a way to the hostages. After discovering their location, one of his team kills the ambassador’s husband and Colton learns the truth about their mission as she prepares to kill the last witness. As Colton struggles with his orders and the truth, a rage takes over him that could change everything.
The Story: Zdarsky crafts a dark, intense and thrilling story in this issue. I loved the action a lot and how the story splits between both Captains as they deal with the dangers of their mission. I love seeing Steve rise as the symbol of hope as he fights with honor and tenacity. I also love seeing Colton deal with the reality of being used as a pawn by the government he swore an oath to. Both stories are compelling in different ways and make me excited to see what happens next for both soldiers.
The Art: Schiti crafts beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I love that there is a classic look to the moments with Steve Rogers versus Doom and how that contrasts to the darker, grittier image of Colton’s mission.
