The Rundown: Peter teams with a former foe to take on a bigger threat.

Trapped beneath the Sims building, Spider-Man finds himself confronted by Kraven the Hunter. Fortunately for Peter, Kraven isn’t there to hunt him. He is there to hunt Morlun himself. After losing the love of his life and dedicating the rest of his to hunting Morlun, Kraven rescues Peter and the pair team up to stop Morlun together. At the same time, Kaine reaches out to MJ and discovers a new purpose.

Peter and Kraven battle Morlun’s mutant monsters before Peter finds a way to free them and Morlun arrives to finish the job. After taking on both Kraven and Spider-Man, Kaine arrives to stop his father. Unfortunately, his intervention might create a bigger threat to the world.

The Story: DeMatteis ramps up the thrills and energy throughout this issue. I love the continuation of Kraven’s story from the animated series and how it makes sense for the tone of the story arc. The story has a great buildup of suspense throughout and culminates in some great character moments and a cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next.

The Art: Towe continues to find the right balance of deference to the style of the animated series while also elevating the art with great visual style and details.
