The Rundown: Kal has a final confrontation with Ras Al Ghul for the fate of Smallville.

Kal wakes up to see not only Krypto, but also his dead parents and the pain hits him as he realizes he’s been stabbed by a kryptonite blade wielded by Ras Al Ghul who has surrounded Smallville and continues his mission to make Kal El his son and heir. At the same time, Sol makes a decision that could give Kal and the people of Smallville a chance to survive.
After losing his last connection to Krypton, Kal fights for his life but is losing as the Peacemakers are forced to decide about how far they will go for the sake of their boss. Kal decides that he has only one chance to stop Ras and will push himself to his limits to do so forcing a moment where Kal will have to decide who he will be.
The Story: Aaron creates a stunning, entertaining and exciting conclusion to this arc. There is great emotion throughout the story as Kal comes to terms with the reality of not only what he’s lost, but what he will have to sacrifice. This series continues to be a wonderfully mature, engaging look at the character with a unique perspective that keeps me interested in what happens next.
The Art: Sandoval delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love not only the dramatic art, but the blistering action and visual emotion it brings.
