The Rundown: Peter has been captured by Morlun, but he is not the only one hunting Spider-Man.
Morlun has captured Spider-Man and reveals his past and how it has shaped his vision for both his company and the future of the world. A world Peter will not be a part of if he doesn’t find a way to escape. After Peter is trapped and sedated, Kaine arrives and finds himself connecting with Peter’s memories, specifically those memories of Mary Jane.
At May’s house, Mary Jane and May discuss the fact that she knows her nephew is Spider-Man as Peter finds a way to escape his bonds. His release is short lived as he discovers some of Morlun’s experiments and is attacked by one before it is brought down by a familiar and dangerous face.
The Story: DeMatteis creates an intense and exciting story in this issue. Introducing Morlun in this series and seeing how his backstory plays out adds some great drama to the plot as well as the reveal from May to Mary Jane. I like the side story with Kaine a lot and how it connects to MJ and the reveal at the end of the issue makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Towe does a fantastic job of building on the visual style of the animated series and elevating it with bold and impressive imagery.
