The Rundown: Sarah Gaunt lays down roots as Rogue and Monet begin to dismantle their old home.

Sarah Gaunt has decided to put down roots in Louisiana by buying her old house and moving in with her new students. After getting to know them, Sarah decides that the first things they are going to do as a team is kill a mutant connected to the X-Men and their target is Mutina. As the actress and mutant returns to her home, she is attacked as Sarah decides to send a message to Rogue and her team.

At the same time, Dazzler is still working with the government to remove their presence from Graymalkin, but they are not moving fast enough and Alison calls in help from Rogue and Monet who proceed to begin tearing down the prison before they are attacked by an experimental sentinel and have to decide what to finally do with the one place many of them called home.

The Story: Simone continues to craft intense, often dark moments throughout this arc and I love every one of them. The story is suspenseful and entertaining while also having moments of heart for Rogue and Monet at Graymalkin. Gaunt continues to be an interesting character and her team going after Mutina is a great narrative choice and makes me excited to see what happens in the aftermath of the attack both for the character and the X-Men.

The Art: Vecchio delivers amazing art throughout the issue. I love the subtle visual changes in tone and style for the different parts of the story with Sarah’s being darker and more intense in contrast to the lighter visual tone of the Dazzler/Rogue/Monet story.
