The Rundown: Elsie goes on a journey alone and discovers something about herself and her future.

In the aftermath of the escape from the CDC facility, the rest of the cats have been removed to someplace possibly safe while Elsie is alone after going to find Chloe, Ghost and Moosh in the burning building and discovering that the virus that has been turning the animals is now affecting humans.

Elsie is confronted by a giant cat spirit who tells her that she is better alone and has her questioning every decision she has made as a leader. As she runs from more infected animals and humans, her journey will bring her face to face with a new situation. One that could mean salvation or more danger.

The Story: Fleecs crafts a great jumping off point for both faithful readers of the series and new readers coming in. The story recounts the events leading to Elsie’s current predicament without rehashing it. It illuminates the stakes of the story while also expanding on the danger to Elsie and her friends. It takes the character into the unknown and leaves her in a place that makes me excited to see what happens next.

The Art: Forstner and Rodriguez deliver beautifully detailed and visually stylish art throughout the issue. I continue to love the contrast between the animation style visuals and the dark horror of the world.
