Agwe is one of the only planets to successfully drive the empire out and they are important allies to the resistance. T’Challa takes to the sea to find the rebels as well as the revered being they stole to sell. The rebels go on the hunt and quickly find out that they are the ones being hunted.

When they are captured by the other rebel faction, their leader must convince T’Challa and Nakia that they are being lied to. He tells them the story of the being they have taken, her connection to the planet as well as her value to the history of Agwe’s culture. It is a compelling story. One that could change everything they believe about their alliance and when a new threat emerges targeting their location, they realize that they have also been sold out.

This is an entertaining continuation of the overall story. There are some great character and story elements here, but it feels like a distraction from the momentum the story has been building for the last few issues. The issue has the feel of a side quest that will not affect the rest of the story in any significant way. There seems to be the hint of something revelatory coming with all of the talk of the Jengu and its importance, but the pace of the story never grabbed my attention enough and it ended on a cliffhanger that didn’t feel earned.

The art by Kev Walker is great and the visuals are what became the saving grace of a story that, if taken out of the arc itself, would not be particularly missed.
