With the targets of Carnage’s attack seemingly tucked away, Spider-Man finds that his latest fight with the symbiote psychopath is going worse than he thought with the creature being infused with the rage and personality of Norman Osborn.

At the same time, Kindred continues to speak to the actual Osborn in his cell at Ravencroft. A conversation that continues to indicate that there is a deeper connection between the two villains. One that prompts Kindred to try to help Osborn get some semblance of his personality back.

With the sordid and complicated history between Peter and Norman, Peter will have to draw on his memories of the man and his battles with him if he’s going to find the strength to beat Norman once and for all.

The Story: Absolute Carnage has been hit or miss with me as an event, but how the events tie into Spider-Man’s title has been something I consider well executed from Nick Spencer. I enjoy the immediacy of Peter’s story and how it relates back to his past with Norman, specifically the dynamic between Peter, Norman and Harry. The Kindred/Norman moments are sufficiently disturbing and revelatory and hint at a deeper connection between Spidey’s latest threat and his greatest.

The Art: Ryan Ottley delivers some stunning, action-packed art in this issue. All of the expressions and fight scenes are amazing.
