Jean Grey wants to teach the world her vision of the future and her first student is going to be Cassandra Nova. That’s if they don’t kill each other first.

The combined forces of the X-Men, the Avengers and the warriors of Atlantis have stormed the beach at Genosha to stop Cassandra Nova’s army of brainwashed civilians and draw out Nova herself for a final confrontation.

When the genocidal mutant finally appears, she finds that she’s shut out of everyone’s brains because they are all sporting snazzy Magneto helmets. She decides that her next move is to board the hovering helicarrier and activate its nuclear reactor before hurling it at the island. The resulting explosion will be devastating and Gentle decides to try and help by absorbing as much of the energy as he can while Gambit tries to charge the falling ship with so much energy that it vaporizes before it hits the ground.

Thor stays with the mutants to facilitate their escape and Jean decides to finish the battle with Cassandra Nova with a little help from Wolverine and Honey Badger. Their plan involves a well-timed and desperate gamble that Jean is counting on the telepath to not understand until it’s too late. Jean has decided that the best way to stop Cassandra Nova for good is to give her the one thing that she has never had.

This was a thoroughly satisfying and well done conclusion. Taylor does a great job of showing these heroes coordinating as a team and working together to stop the threat of Cassandra Nova. Everyone has their part to play and all of their strengths come into play. It shows the reader why this particular team of mutants is so special.

The art was fast-paced and kinetic with moments of great action while still showcasing amazing character and background details. An enjoyable conclusion to this particular story with the promise of more interesting things to come.
