The Rundown: The team finds out more about their mission as Doctor Jain fights to save Unity.

Ace and Valentina have discovered the dark truth behind Unity and Doctor Jain decides to tell them everything. Her avatar is still with the rest of the group and she discloses that Aurora has chosen them to decide which zone’s message they will carry to the rest of the world. With the Destiny Man continuing to fight the system, Jain and Unity are running out of time.

As Jain goes off to deal with the Destiny Man, the rest of the group decides to see Unity’s vision of the future. A future that comes with unimaginable technological benefits, but with an all too human cost. As the team determines whether they will choose Unity or move on to another Zone, Doctor Jain decides to intervene and make the decision for them.

The Story: It continues to amaze me how relevant this story is in its depiction of the extremes of American ideology. Soule and Snyder tap into the depths of American culture and reflect that in its characters. Unity’s brilliant façade and its dark reality are well told through the dialogue and exposition and I really enjoyed getting another peek at the bigger story unfolding for these characters. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next and what twists it takes along the way.

The Art: Every page of the issue features some beautifully dark and brilliantly detailed moments for both the characters and the environments. I loved the look of Unity as well as the unexpected horror of Doctor Jain’s reality. A great looking issue.

Damn. That’s awesome. Already sad it would take until next February for the arc finale.
