The Rundown: Geralt discovers a threat he hasn’t faced before as a dark urge infects a local town.

Geralt has been called to a small town to deal with a rash of deaths and a possible monster. After discovering a victim, he notices that the man was poisoned calling into doubt the story of the monster as he hears about treasure hunters coming to the area looking for hidden riches. Geralt returns to the town where he is introduced to people who live there including a young man who will help him investigate the possible monster.
The pair find something strange in one of the nearby caves and Geralt knows what he is facing, but he needs to prepare. In town, another mystery begins as a stone discovered by a villager leads to murder and a violent reaction from the locals.
The Story: Freedman creates an entertaining story in this first issue. The plot does a great job of developing the character as well as setting up the diverging conflicts that might be connected to each other in a way I haven’t figured out yet. There is definitely something happening beneath the surface of this story and I look forward to figuring out what that is.
The Art: Bak creates some beautifully detailed and visually engaging art throughout the issue.
