The Rundown: Pigeon makes a dark choice to save his wife as the rebels invade the castle.

The enemies are at the gates being led by Pigeon’s own sister Beatrice. Her forces have made it to the entrance to the castle while Pigeon looks on and decides to do something desperate in a final attempt to save the world. Soluna is dying and leaves a finale message for her two sons as Beatrice’s forces enter the castle.

Pigeon makes his way to a special chamber housing something he swore he would never use. Unfortunately, Beatrice makes her way to Soluna’s chamber and finds her nephews. As Pigeon desperately tries to save his wife, Beatrice has plans for the boys that could be exactly what the planet needs.

The Story: Remender brings this story to a thrilling, engaging and entertaining conclusion. There is wall to wall action and suspense throughout the issue and I love the contrast between Pigeon and Beatrice especially the scene where the face each other. I was delighted with where this story went with the characters and it ends on a beautifully endearing note that makes me interested in seeing more from this world.

The Art: Fiumara creates some beautifully detailed and visually stunning art throughout the issue. I love the brutality of the battles as well as the visual moments with Pigeon and the choice he makes towards the end of the issue.
