The Rundown: The Enterprise is tasked with exploring a region of unknown space that could be dangerous to everything they believe in.

Captain Seven of Nine has been in command of the Enterprise for the last five years and she is wondering what her legacy will be. At the same time, she is dealing with a unique type of therapy on the holodeck that explores her dark past. In the aftermath, the ship is dispatched to help a group of Romulan artists whose worlds are about to be destroyed.

After rescuing the colonists, Admiral Janeway calls the Enterprise to a meeting where she tells Seven that the ship will be taking on a new mission. One to a new area of space that could leave them outside of time in an unknown region. What they don’t realize is that this unknown area is not uninhabited.

The Story: Cantwell crafts a thrilling, engaging and interesting first issue that opens up several possibilities for both story and character. The story is filled with great moments for the characters, especially Seven and I like the addition of having Seven and Jack connected through their Borg DNA. It adds some interesting drama for the characters as well as tension between others. This is an entertaining and intriguing foray into the Star Trek universe and I look forward to seeing where it goes next.

The Art: Menheere brings a unique and interesting visual style to this issue. I like the character designs as well as the action and there are some beautifully detailed backgrounds throughout the issue.
