The Rundown: Agents of a secret organization are dispatched to stop a potential world ending threat.

In the wake of her exposure to enkelagite, Agent Jian discovers she has powers and is recruited to be part of a spy ring with others. She’s been tasked with infiltrating a location to find information and using her powers, she succeeds and returns to base where she meets with the rest of the team before they are called for a meeting with their boss.

The team is tasked with splitting up to find and protect targets who are responsible for the creation of a possible super weapon. People who are targeted by Dr. Zandor Szasz who is using the same compound that gave Lian powers to create new powered people of his own. Powered people he sends to tie up loose ends as they encounter two members of the team.

The Story: Mignola and Roberson create an intense, fun and entertaining spy thriller in this first issue. I really like the pacing of the story and how it brings the characters and circumstances together in a way that feels organic rather than rushed or forced. I like seeing the story take the time to introduce both the threat the world faces and the characters tasked with stopping it. This was a fun, engaging first issue that definitely makes me interested in seeing what happens next.

The Art: Michael Avon Oeming creates some beautifully detailed and visually dynamic art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and character designs a lot.
