The Rundown: Elsie finds a pack of wild cats in the woods with their own rules about survival.

Elsie finds herself in the woods confronted by a pack of wild cats who claim that she is trespassing. As she chases them to get answers, she is confronted by the ghost cat again that reminds her that she belongs alone and that anyone she gets close to gets hurt because of her.

One of the wild cats hears her talking to herself and confronts her as they move closer into the territory of one that is called Thorn after being chased by infected animals. Thorn confronts Elsie about her housecat nature and the two argue before Thorn realizes too late that being wild in the world won’t protect her from rabid, infected humans.

The Story: Fleecs continues to take this story to some new and interesting places with a story that takes some big narrative swings while also expanding the terrors of the world. I really love the focus on Elsie throughout this arc and how the story is drilling back into the emotional elements with her self-doubt. I also love that the story doesn’t hesitate to keep the scares and gore throughout even as Elsie is discovering her place in this new world.

The Art: Forstner and Rodriguez create some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue.
