The Rundown: An adventurer finds herself captured and held in the home of a dangerous individual.

The mysterious Rudolph van Richten composes a letter to the only people he consider family as a mysterious object takes to the skies. At the same time, Ezmerelda D’Avenir finds herself wandering the frozen wastes of Lamordia before she finds herself in the company of a strange, pale young man who has no memory of where he came from.
The two are captured and brought to the home of Dr. Viktra Mordenheim who is not only fascinated with Ez’s prosthetic leg, but with her companion as well. The pair finds out quickly that they are not guests of the doctor and are being prepared to become new experiments. A revelation that will force Ez to act if there is any chance her and her new companion can escape.
The Story: As a fan of the world of this story, Chu crafts a dark, engaging story in this first issue. There are some interesting story threads being showcased and teased throughout the issue and the plot grabbed my attention from the beginning. The issue is filled with great action and thrills along with interesting and engaging characters and a story that makes me interested in seeing where it goes next.
The Art: Kristantina creates some beautifully detailed and visually stylish art throughout the issue. I cannot wait to see more.
