The Rundown: The Heart of Apokalips looks for a new way to torture Batman.

In Jason’s Gotham, he is cut off from the rest of the world and alone. Believing Bruce is actually Clayface, the two fight and Jason almost dies until Bruce changes the outcome of the encounter angering the Heart of Apokolips. The heart decides to take Bruce away from Jason leaving him alone again and send him to another Gotham. A Gotham where Tim is the Batman and has stopped crime with the use of his detective skills.

After confronting Tim through his tech, the pair reunite but it also ruins the plans of the Heart who decides that torturing Bruce with combat might not be the best plan and devises a new strategy that will force him to confront Damian and another life that hangs in the balance.

The Story: Williamson continues to create a truly mesmerizing and engaging story in this issue. Having Bruce confront his legacy through his family is fantastic and this story is entertaining throughout. I love seeing the expansion of the Bat family and how Bruce is subverting the expectations of the heart throughout the issue. Everything culminates in a great cliffhanger ending with a surprise that will force Bruce to confront his legacy in a new and potentially tragic way.

The Art: Mora is a master of visual moments and every page in this issue has something new and visually exciting to behold. My eyes literally danced across the panels as I read and I tried to take in every detail and expression.
