The Rundown: The Doom Patrol head to California for a mission with an enemy on their heels.

After Larry successfully brings down an alien threat in the middle of a suburban town, the Doom Patrol returns to their makeshift base in a rundown apartment as Caulder tells them of their next mission. A mission that will require the team to head to California to rescue a wealthy man’s daughter from a cult. Cliff is reluctant to take on the mission, but if they pull it off, it will help them financially.
As the team takes to the road, Caulder worries about a newfound power within Larry as the former astronaut thinks back on his past. None of them realize they are being followed and watched by a former enemy who has plans for the team. Plans that could result in the end of the Doom Patrol once and for all.
The Story: Van Poelgeest continues to craft an interesting, unique story in this follow up issue. I love where the team is at the start of this story and the interpersonal conflicts are compelling and engaging throughout. I love that there is an effective mix of both drama and comedy throughout and the comedic elements make for a richer, more entertaining story. I love the buildup of action and suspense throughout the story and the cliffhanger ending makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Niko Henrichon creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I love the style of this series and how it captures the tone and mood of the story and its characters.
