The Rundown: Batman and Robin deal with a corrupt cop and everything that comes with that.

A group of thieves attempts to rob a truck after killing the driver and are intercepted by Robin who manages to take one of them down before the Gotham police arrive on the scene. With guns drawn, one of the robbers attempts to run away only to be shot in the back by one of the officers on the scene under the orders of Commissioner Vandal Savage.
When the cop attempts to arrest Robin, Tim tries to escape only to find himself shot as well and thrown into the back of a police truck with a group of criminals the cop left un-cuffed to teach Tim a lesson. A lesson that will lead to Batman interfering, a tense standoff and Savage calling for the heads of Batman and Robin to every cop in the city.
The Story: Fraction crafts an entertaining, thrilling story with some interesting elements of humor throughout. The humor doesn’t always work for me in the context of the story’s tone, but it does add some fresh elements to an exciting and tension filled plot. There is a darker, more dangerous feel to Gotham in this series and I love how Fraction is leaning into that danger with a story filled with not only great character moments, but a suspenseful cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Jimenez delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the dramatic angles used that amplify the tension of the story.
