The Rundown: Two new stories explore worlds of terror and revenge.

Clown Town

A trio of clown performers who entertain sick children run into some interpersonal conflict when one of them seems to be in it for the money they are supposed to be donating to charity. When another notices the selfishness and sees the physical affects its having on her friend, she decides to seek revenge in a way that will be entertaining to both herself and the kids.

This was a pretty straightforward story with no nuance or humor to either its plotting or resolution. I knew what was happening, but nothing in it made it possible for me to care. The art was really good though and reminded me of the classic comic art style of horror comics.

The Poke

A man discovers a giant finger poking into the Earth and when the media and government see that it stretches into the sky, they investigate. What they discover too late is that the finger is emitting something that makes human beings explode. On the international space station, a lone astronaut decides to fly the shuttle along the finger and discovers its origins and the creature it is attached to.

This story had a lot of potential, but failed in its execution. What could have been an interesting mystery was reduced more to a series of sight gags and a final moment that felt useless and unearned. I like the visual nature of the horror, but the story was weak.
