The Rundown: Detective Ester Blanco searches the ravaged streets of Los Angeles in search of a missing girl.

It’s the aftermath of the big one in California. After the federal government gives up on the state in the wake of the disaster, the state continues on as best it can. In the middle of the ruined city of Los Angeles, former Detective and consultant Ester Blanco is doing her best to survive and that includes taking a job hunting down the missing daughter of a man who promises to pay her enough to leave the state.

As she deals with both the gangs who want her head and the dangers within the city, she also deals with a personal loss that she wants to deal with. One that will force her to take the missing person case not knowing that her target has put a second one on her head.

The Story: Blum and Seeley craft an entertaining story in this first issue. I like the premise of the story and the world of it. Ester seems like an interesting character and has layers that I want to see explored. The story has some great action throughout and I look forward to seeing what the mystery of the missing girl will uncover.

The Art: Koblish creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. I like the art style and how it captures the dark mood and tone of the world.
