The Rundown: A series of nightmares takes the young mutants on an unexpected journey.

Gambit and Rogue are having some time to themselves in the city when a potential mugging reveals something dark from Remy’s past that is still haunting him. Back at Haven House, Kurt finds himself dealing with some personal issues before heading to bed while the young mutants deal with nightmares connected to their past.

Jubilee discovers that the kids are missing and when they turn up it isn’t in their past, but the past itself where they are rescued by the X-Men and taken to the Graymalkin school where Moira McTaggert welcomes them as the New Mutants.

The Story: Simone crafts a brilliantly engaging story with great callbacks and details that need to be experienced. I continue to love the narrative balance between the character’s personal struggles and the threats they face as well as how those threats connect personally to them. This story has some great twists and turns throughout including a couple of cameos I was not expecting, but am excited to see play out. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next issue.

The Art: Vecchio delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visuals, the action and the beautifully drawn characters.
