Tony is alienating someone close to him and the rest of his team is feeling the pressure as Stark Unlimited gets ready to launch a new game system.

It’s launch day for the Escape system and there are some bugs affecting users that violate terms and conditions as well as being verbally abusive. There are definite shades of Ready Player One in this new tech from Stark as people immerse themselves in a  virtual world where they can be anyone and do anything. The popularity of the tech has thieves in the real world angling to steal a shipment, causing Iron Man, Rhodey and Wasp to go into action to stop them.

It’s a fun moment that solidifies the romance between Tony and Janet. One of the other relationships in the issue that is becoming interesting is the one between Andy and Amanda. They have a sweet rapport with each other that is refreshing and Amanda’s angst about not connecting with Tony is a plot point that deserves to be explored.

In this issue it is because Tony decides that he needs to go into the Oasis (ahem Escape) to find out why so many users are being booted. Amanda follows him in order to force him to confront her, but the security protocol in place to protect the users and the game is out of control and not responding to orders. At the same time, a familiar villain from Tony’s past is bringing the bad elements that have been pushed out back in.

There is a lot going on in this issue and Slott and Whitley manage to make every aspect from the big to the mundane interesting in their own ways. Amanda’s arc is interesting and her desire to connect with Tony is well written and genuine. Jacosta’s storyline is handled well and the mystery of what is affecting Bethany continue to be intriguing.

The art is amazing and there are some really exciting panels in this issue that are fun and exciting.
