The Rundown: Clint Barton is looking for a new team, but getting what you want isn’t always a good thing.

After burning some pretty public bridges with his former Avengers teammates, Clint Barton is looking for a new team. Unfortunately, few people are willing to take his calls. When he gets one from the newly elected mayor of New York Luke Cage, Clint jumps at the opportunity. Unfortunately, that means teaming him up with a new group of sanctioned heroes called the Thunderbolts.

Their first mission as Thunderbolts will require them to recapture the previous Thunderbolts who are attempting to escape. As the new team fights without a plan, Clint does his best to try to keep them in line. A task he might not be prepared for as the team finds itself in need of some unexpected help while they keep some dangerous secrets from each other.

The Story: Zub crafts a fun, thrilling and often funny first issue. Clint is utilized brilliantly in the story by putting him in the position of the elder statesman who is still rough around the edges. His desire to lead a team clashes with his lack of competency in leadership and sets up some interesting and engaging conflict to come. I also really enjoyed the hints at the secrets his team is keeping from each other.

The Art: Izaakse delivers some thrilling and dynamic art in this first issue. The action is visually thrilling and I love the character designs and background details.
