The Rundown: The truth about the vampire is revealed as well as who the real killer is.
The vampire tells his story to both the Witcher and the crowd gathered to watch his execution. It’s a story of love and betrayal as the vampire and the human woman he loves flee their town to find a quiet place in the woods to live out their days. Unfortunately, a jealous mage puts an end to their happiness and his real identity is revealed.
As the other Witcher arrives, Geralt springs his trap after revealing the truth about the other Witcher, his real mission and who has really been killing the peasants that drew the bounty. Geralt takes on the Witcher and his wolf familiars to show everyone the truth as the vampire awaits his fate.
The Story: Spurrier brings this story to an exciting, tragic and entertaining conclusion. The reveal at the beginning of the story is brilliantly done and sets the tone for the rest of the events of the issue. There is some great action and surprises throughout the issue and it ends on a satisfying and engaging note for fans of the character.
The Art: Green delivers some beautifully haunting imagery throughout the issue. I love the art in this issue and was impressed with the emotion behind the visuals.
