The Rundown: The siblings find themselves defeated by a new team that have decided to forge a new legacy.

Multiple extraordinary children are born in the world. Many of them are abandoned or adopted, but Reginald Hargreeves decides to adopt fourteen of them and separate them into two different teams. While one team lives in the mansion with Hargreeves, the other is sequestered to an icy location in Norway and Monocle finds a way to train both teams in different ways.

In the present, the second team emerges in the city to do the job that the Umbrella Academy has consistently failed at. As both teams clash, the Academy learns they are grossly outclassed and are forced to leave the area while the Sparrow Academy makes their presence known to the city as they prepare to save the world on their terms.

The Story: Way and Ba craft a thrilling, fun and entertaining story in this first issue. The story does a great job of not only serving fans of the original series, but also bringing new readers into the story and characters in an interesting way. The action is thrilling and I loved seeing the Sparrow’s showcase the darker elements of Hargreeves’ plans. I look forward to seeing what this series has to offer and where it goes next.

The Art: Ba delivers beautifully detailed and visually engaging art throughout the issue. I love the character designs and the beautiful contrast between the teams.
