The Rundown: Macraith and Asami have a plan to steal something from Mohan that can help them escape.

In the late 1800’s Mohan finds himself in the middle of a catastrophe and the junior officer will do whatever it takes to enrich himself as his people suffer. On the island, he mobilizes his people for their nightly assault on the undead as the couple and their new ally watch and plan from afar. Asami helps develop a plan to steal the stone tablet that could possibly allow them to escape.

As Macraith infiltrates the fort, he finds the tablet and attempt to escape with it to meet with their contact and Asami plays over watch to keep him safe with a series of strategically places arrows. Unfortunately, their escape becomes more complicated when Mohan is alerted and Asami finds herself face to face with a ghost from her past returned.

The Story: Duggan ramps up the drama and thrills throughout this issue. There is a wonderful sense of tension throughout the story and I love seeing some of Mohan’s backstory as it shows what kind of person he really is. I continue to enjoy the love story between Macraith and Asami and Duggan does a fantastic job of introducing a complication to that story that not only threatens it, but everything they are fighting for.

The Art: Brown delivers beautifully detailed and stylish art throughout the issue. I love the visual style of this series and how the art captures the emotion and tension of the story.
