The Rundown: Things get desperate and dark for the world when Eliza decides she’s had enough.
After moving the Vatican to Ethiopia, Eliza prays for some kind of absolution. Unfortunately, all she can see is her impending deliverance to hell. At the same time, Valentina meets with Jacky to discuss a way of containing Eliza before she brings about the kind of destruction that they worked with Etienne to try to avoid.
Eliza decides that she’s had enough of the world and she begins the process of completing what the Queen began before she was stopped. A move that will see Jacky betrayed by the men who work for him and Heavy tasked with stopping Eliza. Unfortunately, it might be too late for everyone.
The Story: Gillen crafts a darkly thrilling story in this issue. There is tension throughout the issue and everything in the story hits on a different level as the ramifications of Etienne’s death begins a spiral of events that none of the characters was prepared for. I continue to be fascinated with this world and its characters. I cannot wait to see what happens after that dramatic and ominous cliffhanger.
The Art: Wijngaard delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visuals, especially everything having to do with Eliza and her transformation.
