The Rundown: Change is coming to Stillwater in the form of its new ‘Protectors’.

In the aftermath of the courthouse explosion, Teddy’s old unit makes its move to bring order to the town. Kreegs takes command and his first order of business is to round up anyone that could be connected to the bombing and take them to a special place that the Judge doesn’t know about. As this new band of Protectors sweeps the town, Laura and Daniel head back home to work on a means of escape.

Unfortunately, Daniel being the new man in town makes him a prime suspect and Kreeg’s men immediately go after him and Laura. After Laura is injured, Daniel finds himself facing off against a more skilled fighter. It’s going to take an unexpected rescue from an unlikely source to get Daniel out of harms way and he will discover that there are more secrets the town is hiding.

The Story: Zdarsky ramps up the terror and tension in this new issue. The story takes some harrowing twists and turns that had me riveted. Things are getting more intense for the characters and the town and adding new antagonists like the Protectors keeps the story engaging as it evolves. There are some great character moments throughout the issue and the cliffhanger ending was both revelatory and satisfying.

The Art: Perez delivers some exceptional art in this issue. There are great visual moments throughout and the action is both beautifully detailed and as intense as the story.
