The Rundown: A trip to a swanky gala turns into an adventure for Speed and his friends.
Speed, Pops and Spritle make their way to the fancy Ocean Industries Gala where Speed admits he feels uncomfortable among all the rich and powerful people including Trixie. After the two have an exchange of words about what happened between them, they separate and Speed finds himself witnessing a presentation about a new synthetic fuel that will revolutionize the industry.
When Cruncher Block and the Great Mammoth Car decide to interrupt the event, they end up taking the new fuel sample as well as Trixie prompting Speed and Racer X to hop in their cars and give chase to get back both the formula and Trixie before disaster strikes.
The Story: Pepose crafts an endlessly fun and frantic ride in this issue. There’s fun interpersonal drama, comedy and wall to wall action. I love the pacing and thrills of this story a lot and the story is just incredibly entertaining. I love the evolution of the character relationships and cannot wait to see where this series goes next.
The Art: Tinto delivers stunning visuals throughout the issue. I love the imagery as well as the pulse pounding, beautifully detailed action.
