The Rundown: A confrontation between villains leads to a revelation and Dick Grayson strikes a blow against the Blüdhaven PD.

A conversation between Heartless and Blockbuster quickly turns to deadly conflict and later leads to the uncovering a startling motive behind Heartless’s crimes. Meanwhile, Nightwing is assaulted by the police as he attempts a mundane activity. Afterwards, Barbara shares the data she’s gathered regarding a previous event in Blüdhaven. Soon, a call from someone important leads Dick to Haven where he quickly becomes entangled in Commissioner Maclean’s schemes. However, the arrival of the press gives Dick the opportunity to expose corruption within the police department.

The Story: Taylor creates an entertaining and well-planned narrative that provides both story building content and engaging action. Not only does the reader learn more about Heartless, his new relationship with Blockbuster promises interesting future conflict that will most certainly involve the boy wonder. This chapter also provides some very sweet moments involving Dick, Barbara, and the beloved Haley. I’m a sucker for anything involving this trio, and I was delighted to see their interactions. Taylor’s run of this series is my current favorite and I am looking forward to this next issue.

The Art: The illustrations in this chapter feature bold coloring and a modern comic book styling. Though fairly limited, this issue has some nice action sequences. Also, the attention to detail for both character and setting are noteworthy as they provide a visual and emotional connection with the story.
