Marvel’s Iron Fist
Season 2 Episode 1
The Fury of Iron Fist
Even in a world filled with superheroes, crime is still going to exist. So when a group tries a daring armored car robbery in the middle of the night, they find themselves on the receiving end of justice at the hand of Danny Rand aka the Immortal Iron Fist. After an impressive fight and the use of his power, Danny manages to stop the thieves and returns home to Colleen.
Colleen has decided to give up the hero bit after the events of The Defenders and she is dedicating her time to helping others through volunteer work. It’s an interesting dynamic in her relationship with Danny. At the Outreach Center she works at, she finds a mysterious item that holds a personal connection to her and she sets out to find out how it came to the shelter in the first place. At the same time, Danny is settling into his life outside of Rand and meets a young woman named Mary, who seems to be more than she appears.
When Danny and Ward are summoned to a secret meeting with Joy, they find the young woman more in control and seemingly more vindictive than she once was. Her steely resolve seems to soften a little towards Danny, but the introduction of Davos and his connection to both Danny and Joy is the start of a plan to destroy Iron Fist.
Iron Fist season 2 starts with a well written and tight first episode. The acting is good. I really enjoyed the moments with Joy, Ward and Danny as well as the moments with Mary. The fight scenes are really well done. There is a huge improvement from the first season with the fight choreography. Danny moves naturally in the fights and there is none of the slowness that plagued the first season. There is an interesting set of mysteries being crafted with this episode and all of the characters have grown and evolved to make their interactions more intriguing. Definitely a good start to the season.
