The face of Marvel comics for decades Stan Lee has died today.

The legendary editor, publisher and writer died at Cedars-Sinai hospital this morning according to multiple reports from The Hollywood Reporter to TMZ.

Born Stanley Martin Leiber, Stan Lee began his comic book career at Timely Comics in 1939. Eventually, the company would become Marvel Comics and Lee would go on to co-create some of the most iconic characters in the history of comic books and literature including Spider-Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men and more.

Lee innovated the comic book industry by not only producing the books that generations loved, but becoming the face of the company through his huge personality and enthusiasm for his characters. Younger generations will know him primarily for his cameos in the movies based on his characters and for his distinct and unique voice.

Ever present and always full of personality and joy, Stan Lee will be a presence that will be missed jot only in comics, but in the world at large.
