The Justice League has teamed up with Starman and sent out a universal call for help to take on the biggest challenge they have ever faced, repair the Source Wall.
Starman has a plan to seal the breach in the wall in order to prevent the forces of Perpetua from coming forth as well as stop her from reforming. His plan is a daring and will call on the heroes of the universe to find and retrieve the Omega Titans and return them to the wall itself. It will also call on the sacrifice of one of the members of the League to replace the missing Titan killed on Earth.
With the stakes as big as they are, the heroes must rally to end the threat to the Multiverse. Along with the New Gods, the Green Lantern Corps and others, their plan looks like it might succeed, but the best paid plans of mice and men have never met the Legion of Doom and their new member Brainiac!
Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV are masters at taking the audience to the brink of hope and then snatching it away in dramatic fashion. They subvert and twist your expectations in ways that both infuriate and entice readers because even at the darkest of possible endings, they still leave the reader with just enough hope in these dynamic characters to bring you back for more. This annual takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster as the story builds to a cliffhanger with the potential to change everything we know and love about these characters.
It’s amazing how big they go with these stories as well. There are moments when the sheer scope of the DC universe is overwhelming, even to fans of the characters, but the writers keep the issue character focused and the scale is balanced by character moments that draw you in.
Daniel Sampere’s art is phenomenal. There is so much to see visually on every page, but nothing is confusing and everything has beauty and detail to it.
