Disney’s D23 Expo is kicking off this week with the promise of big announcements and surprises for fans of Disney, Marvel and Star Wars.

We get our first look at one of those announcements this week with the release of images from the upcoming Star Wars Land coming to Disney Theme Parks. The studio released some images and a short video of the model that they will be using to render the vision of George Lucas in the real world.

It looks like the Imagineers who designed the area took their inspiration from different worlds featured in the films. There are elements of Naboo, Endor and Tatooine incorporated throughout. The Mos Eisley cantina is an attraction that has been announced and there is a life-size Millenium Falcon on display as well for visitors to enjoy.  The full presentation will be this Saturday so these images, hopefully, will only scratch the surface of the amazing attractions that will be coming.

Considering the Disney Imagineers have been given the opportunity to bring James Cameron’s Avatar to life and the recent Guardians of the Galaxy BREAKOUT!! attraction, it will be interesting to see how far they will push George Lucas’ vision with this new land. Until then, we can look at the photos and video and dream of what’s to come.
