Disney’s D23 Expo is in full swing and the reveals and surprises are coming at an exciting clip. While fans are marveling at the amazing visuals on the floor, they are also taking in the sights and sounds of the next offerings from Disney.
One of those announcements is the first teaser trailer for the upcoming big screen adaptation of beloved children’s book A Wrinkle In Time.
The trailer showcases the impressive visuals as well as the stellar cast assembled by Selma director Ava DuVernay which includes Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mindy Kaling. Disney has released an official synopsis of the film as well.
Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg’s classmate Calvin O’Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.
Directed by Ava DuVernay from a screenplay by Jennifer Lee based upon the beloved novel by Madeleine L’Engle, “A Wrinkle in Time” is produced by Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand with Doug Merrifield serving as executive producer. The film stars: Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, André Holland, Rowan Blanchard with Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine and introduces Storm Reid.
Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time opens in theaters March 9, 2018.
