Microsoft has released the first look at what they are calling “the most powerful console on the planet”.
At E3, Microsoft unveiled their brand new console XBOX ONE X and, from the presentation, it looks impressive. Formally known as Project Scorpio, the new XBOX ONE X is boasting some impressive specifications. With all of the impressive tech under the hood, Microsoft wants players to know that they were able to put all of that tech into a much smaller console.
One of the first things to be impressed by is the Scorpio Engine. The processor uses 6 Terflops and 326GB/s of Memory bandwidth. It will also use liquid cooling to ensure that the increase in power doesn’t mean an increase in heat and noise. It will also utilize a new method of regulating voltage called the hovis method. Out of the box, the console will deliver 8GB of Flash memory, a 1 TB hard drive and 12GB of GDDR5.
On the visual side, the console will feature a 4K UHD Blu-Ray Optical Drive and the developers have promised that the console will still make your games look amazing, even if you don’t have a 4k TV.
Along with some impressive exclusive gaming titles, which we’ll talk about in a separate article, the XBOX ONE X will take backwards compatibility to the next level. Out of the box, it will be compatible with all current XBOX ONE games and accessories. It will also be compatible with your library of backwards compatible XBOX 360 games as well. One of the things that got people excited during the presentation was the announcement that there will be backwards compatibility to a library of original XBOX titles as well.
XBOX ONE X launches November 7, 2017 with a retail price of $499
