The Rundown: Kirk and Sato team up for a bold plan to save what’s left of Starfleet.

Sato sits across from Kirk and the two come up with a plan that will allow the remaining fleet of Starfleet vessels to make their way to the location of the newly constructed T’Galatheon Gate, a space station that will shield the fleet from anyone. In order to do that, Kirk will have to take his ship on a dangerous mission to disrupt the Emerald Chain and give the ships time to gather.
Unfortunately, the Chain is listening in and preparing to take the fleet once and for all with their new leader in command. While the station prepares for their arrivals, Sato speaks to a member of his crew while Kirk prepares for his mission. A mission that will hit a dangerous snag when the Chain decides to strike first.
The Story: Lanzing and Kelly craft a thrilling, intense and entertaining story in this issue. The writing team create some perfectly executed twists and turns both with the plotting and with the characters that make every moment compelling and ramps up the tension and suspense of the moment. I love the buildup throughout the story both in the Starfleet plans and when the Chain were going to strike. I love the political intrigue as well as the interpersonal conflicts that haven’t been fully resolved. I cannot wait to see how this story ends.
The Art: Bonilla creates some beautifully detailed and visually exciting art throughout the issue. The imagery is filled with fantastic action and character moments.
