The Rundown: Batman confronts Savage as he plans to stop Ivy’s takeover of the city.

Poison Ivy has released ancient plants on the city that are taking over the streets and terraforming the air. Vandal Savage has a plan to release an herbicide that will kill the plants and Batman races to confront him about his plan. As the two spar verbally, Batman learns that the herbicide will not only kill the plants, but hundreds of thousands of people as well. Savage will not listen to reason and dispatches his loyal officers to release it anyway.

Batman races to stop the zeppelins carrying the herbicide and the police officers piloting and guarding them. After stopping one of them, he pleads with the pilot of the other to stop the release before it’s too late and discovers that there might be another way to stop the plants. One that will require him to seek out someone who does not want to see him for help.

The Story: Taylor crafts a dark, thrilling story filled with tension and suspense. I continue to love the clashes between Batman and Savage. There are some great moments between the two and I love the fact that Batman has to work harder than ever to deal with issues as he doesn’t have the support of the police that he once had. Batman is returned to vigilante status and that works for the story and the arc.

The Art: Spokes creates some great art in the issue. I really liked the visual tension created in the moments between Batman and Vandal Savage.
