The Rundown: With time running out, one of the X-Men will be tested on what it means to be a hero.

The 3K mutant known as Schwarzchild is unconscious and releasing dangerous gravity storms throughout the area. While Magento tries to hold back the destruction and Beast negotiates with the Department H team sent to bring him in, Quentin and Ben are inside the man’s mind trying to find a way to help him. Unfortunately, it will require Quentin to go deeper into Ben’s mind to do it.

Quentin runs into a problem that separates him from Ben in the mindscape and Ben finds himself alone with the mind of the mutant who captured and tortured him. As Magneto hovers over the body contemplating killing Schwarzchild to end the storms, Ben must decide between killing one of the people responsible for ruining his life or save the enemy to get information.

The Story: MacKay crafts an entertaining and compelling story in this issue. I like that there are several different moral and ethical questions being asked throughout the story and how each one ramps up the drama and tension of every moment. I like the focus on Ben in the story as well as the growing conflict between Beast and Magneto. The story has a satisfying conclusion that teases more drama and tension to come with the characters.

The Art: Tony S. Daniel delivers beautifully detailed and visually exciting art in the external images as well as some great visual moments inside Schwarzchild’s brain.
