The Rundown: Batman takes on the Robins and has a confrontation with a dark enemy.

Alfred is trying his hardest to get Bruce to disengage from the fight with the Robins and their armored mechs, but Batman is not listening to his warnings and prepares to fight. As the Robins spring into action, they are shocked to see the vigilante hold his own against their forces even as they bring a building down around him.

His team fights to help him escape as Grayson stops the battle to check for casualties. In the aftermath, Bruce continues to pull away from people even as he and his friends attend Gordon’s funeral. Bruce returns to work and receives a visit from the man behind his nightmares. A man who tells him that he’s just getting started with Batman.

The Story: Snyder continues to craft a dark, thrilling and compelling story in this issue. I love the dark tone of the story and how it is affecting Bruce and those around him. There is some great action in the beginning of the issue and the story has some incredible moments with Bruce’s friends towards the end. The end of the issue is incredibly dark and disturbing and makes me excited to see what Snyder does next as he continues to batter Batman both emotionally and psychologically.

The Art: Dragotta crafts some beautifully detailed and visually thrilling art throughout the issue. From the beginning fight to the dark reveal towards the end, I was mesmerized by the imagery in this issue.
