The Rundown: The hero of St. Canard travels to Manhattan in search of a gargoyle.

Morgana Macawber is working on a new spell for Darkwing Duck when Demona contacts her through her magic mirror with an offer. When Morgana refuses, Demona decides to take her by force and her familiars go looking for Darkwing Duck to save her. Darkwing returns home after stopping robbers and discovers what happened to Morgana and he and his group decide to head to Manhattan.

At the same time, Demona is holding Morgana in magic proof chains demanding the location of a powerful magic item. When the Thunderquack makes its way to the city, Darkwing discovers that criminals are different in Manhattan and he gets some much needed help from Elisa and Goliath.

The Story: Stones and Weisman craft a fun and entertaining story that does something I absolutely love; not explain a single thing about the world of these characters. I’m not being sarcastic. I love that Darkwing knows about Manhattan and Elisa has no idea why there is a flying duck-billed rocket soaring over her city. I love that Darkwing has no problem interacting with humans, but humans cannot grasp Darkwing at all. This is a sublimely funny and interesting story that is going to get funnier and stranger as the story progresses.

The Art: Cangialosi crafts some beautifully detailed and stylized art that perfectly captures the animated feel of Darkwing Duck while melding it with the style of Gargoyles.
