The Rundown: The kids discover a new ally and a hidden world.
Surrounded by Mordred’s forces, Kevin manages to find a way to force them. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last long as more reinforcements arrive and the kids are forced to use their weapons to defend themselves before a fog rolls in that hides them from their enemies.
Emerging from the fog is a man Excalibur refers to as Merlin who manages to convince the kids to follow him to a van where they emerge at a hanger and travel with their parents to England where their real adventure begins. An adventure that will begin in a world beyond space and time.
The Story: Taylor crafts some fun action and thrills in this issue. I like seeing this world take shape and the immediacy of the plot is entertaining. There are moments of humor and heart throughout the story and I like the growing tension with one of the characters and how it can affect the dynamic of the group. I’m definitely invested in this story and look forward to what happens next.
The Art: Di Nicuolo delivers stunning art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how it perfectly matches the tone of the story and its characters.
