The Rundown: Superboy discovers just how tenuous his relationship with humanity can be.
Clark continues to discover that his powers can have serious consequences when his attempt to help a local almost ends in disaster. As he returns to town, he is unaware of the fact that his movements are being tracked and General Sam Lane has managed to pinpoint his location, Smallville.
When Clark decides to immerse himself in being Superboy to block out his personal issues, he embraces the love people are giving him. Unfortunately, one mistake while trying to rescue a woman from a speeding bus leads to not only the public turning on him, but a confrontation with Lane and his forces in the center of Smallville itself.
The Story: Waid continues to create some great lore for the man of steel as he navigates becoming the man he will become with the boy that he is. I like seeing the character deal with his anxieties and uncertainties as he tries to do his best for those around him and doesn’t always succeed. There is a wonderful vulnerability to the character that is refreshing and makes these stories interesting to read.
The Art: Tormey creates some great art throughout the issue. I was impressed with the visual style and how it matches the tone and mood of the story.
