The Rundown: Stripped of her lasso and arms, Diana must find another way to reach her home when Cheetah escapes.

Cheetah is on a rampage throughout Themyscira. She is killing and capturing Amazons in an attempt to lure the goddess Hera out of hiding. Her motivations are linked to Wonder Woman and her fury is indiscriminate.

When Diana learns that Cheetah has escaped, she needs to find a new way to return to her home. She will enlist the help of Steel and others to return to Themyscira and face Barbara Ann again.

The Story: Steve Orlando is taking Diana to some dark places in this issue. Dealing with themes of betrayal, loss and obsession, the story delivers on the human drama as well as the action. Cheetah and her allies have raised the stakes and her mission has an interesting and unexpected twist in its connection to Wonder Woman and her friendship with the woman who would be Cheetah. I really liked Barbara Ann’s motivations in this issue. They are different than the standard kill the hero trope. It will be interesting to see where Orlando takes this story from here and how Cheetah’s motivations will affect Diana.

The Art: Kieron McKeown has some great visual moments throughout this issue, but the best thing about the art is the outright menace and fury of Cheetah.
