The Rundown: A young artist is brought back into a secret world beneath our own.

Allison is an upcoming artist in the city who is stressing about her gallery exhibition that night. What she doesn’t know is that she is being followed. As she traverses the subway and the anxiety of being underground, she and her roommate prepare for the show.

As she meets with everyone including the young candidate for Mayor, the exhibition is attacked by a powerful sorcerer who takes her deep underground to answer for the actions of her family. Actions that could release a dangerous entity into the world above.

The Story: Runberg crafts an interesting and entertaining world in this first issue. The story has an interesting lead and some compelling dark elements that peeked my interest. I like the slow buildup of suspense throughout the issue and how events culminate in the reveal of an intriguing and creative world to explore.

The Art: Andolfo delivers fantastic and beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. I continue to love her visual style and will not hesitate to pick up a book she has drawn.
