'Parkland' Premiere - The 70th Venice International Film Festival

Tom Welling spent ten seasons playing the man who would be Superman on the hit CW series Smallville. Now there’s news that he will be returning to the world of comic books this fall.

Welling will be joining the cast of the Fox series Lucifer, based on the DC Comic/ Vertigo Imprint series created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg, which deals with the Devil living in Los Angeles after abandoning Hell and assisting a lovely LAPD detective in solving crimes. Welling has not starred on a series since the end of Smallville’s ten season run in 2011.

He will join the cast of the series, which is in its third season, as Police Lieutenant Marcus Pierce. An accomplished and charismatic investigator, Pierce is everything that Lucifer is not. He is strategic, reserved and well-respected among his colleagues. Look for Lucifer to be threatened by Pierce as the handsome officer begins to get close to Detective Decker, the woman Lucifer has developed feelings for. Sparks are expected to fly between the two as Lucifer finds himself dealing with something he’s not experienced at; jealousy.

Lucifer will start its third season October 2, 2017.
